Welcome to Complete Care Midwifery

We are an experienced independent midwifery practice offering private one to one care through pregnancy, birth and afterwards.

Background

We are both qualified, experienced midwives, with more than twenty-five years of combined experience. Having worked in the NHS for the majority of this time, we have succeeded in building solid and reliable reputations amongst colleagues and fellow professionals in community and hospital settings. While we recognise that NHS midwives work incredibly hard we also know they are under immense pressure due to large caseloads, economic constraints and cuts to NHS budgets, all of which, ultimately, impact on the care women receive.

Beliefs

The decision to become independent midwives has not been taken lightly. We both have a strong sense of moral duty and social fairness. We are passionate about the care we provide and our principal desire is to deliver an individualised, comprehensive, woman-centred package, which has continuity at its heart.

Aims

Research confirms that women are more likely to have positive birth experiences if they are cared for in a private, familiar environment with a midwife they know and trust.

As Independent midwives, we aim to provide the following:

  • Individualised care in an unhurried, relaxed way in your own home.

  • Advocacy and one-to-one support should you choose or need to be in hospital for your baby’s birth.

  • Quality time with women in our care.

  • Guidance through the decisions you need to make throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.

  • Access to midwifery support and advice 24 hours a day.

Expertise

We are skilled in caring for women who give birth at home, in water or in hospital. We have the expertise to look after women wishing to have a vaginal birth following a previous caesarean section or those who have had difficulties or trauma in birth. If you have had a difficult experience, we have the expertise to support and help you to move forward, so that you are able to appreciate and enjoy this pregnancy and birth.

We are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and adhere to the Midwives’ Rules. We undertake annual supervisory reviews and equipment checks and attend yearly updates on managing emergencies. We also comply with legal obligations ensuring that clinical practice is up to date, that actions remain within the sphere of competence and that policies are maintained in line with National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE).

Nationally, at present, Public indemnity insurance is not available to Independent Midwives. Please note that Complete Care Midwifery supports pregnant women in making informed choices about their care and the care of their baby.
